Over 9,000 Flights and 28 Years of Partnership

SMITHERS, BC, June 6, 2024 – Central Mountain Air (CMA) is proud to announce its continued partnership with Hope Air, a national charity dedicated to providing free flights for Canadians who need to travel for medical treatment. This collaboration, spanning over 28 years, has facilitated over 9,000 flights for Hope Air patients, underscoring CMA’s commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of the communities they serve by ensuring that travel remains accessible for those who need it most.

For over 38 years, CMA has connected communities across British Columbia and Alberta. Through this partnership, the airline helps provide essential transportation for patients facing health challenges. By working together, CMA and Hope Air ensure that individuals can access life-saving medical treatments regardless of their geographic location.

"Our long-standing partnership with Hope Air reflects our deep commitment to the communities we serve,” said Doug McCrea, Vice President of Central Mountain Air. "We are proud to help ensure that Canadians facing medical challenges can reach the care they need, when they need it most, regardless of where they live."

Hope Air provides flights and accommodations to those who need to travel for distant medical appointments, alleviating the financial burden for individuals and families. With CMA’s dedication to regional connectivity, this partnership continues to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of Canadians.

In 2024 Hope Air provided over 32,000 travel arrangements helping nearly 4,000 BC patients from remote and rural communities reach urban centres for critical medical appointments. CMA’s continued support plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to healthcare to patients in need across the province.

“British Columbia’s vast geography presents a real challenge for patients living in rural and remote regions who need timely, specialized care,” said Stephanie Aldridge, Vice President, Patient Experience at Hope Air. “Our partnership with Central Mountain Air allows us to help bridge that gap—delivering hope, access to care, and better health outcomes for people who might otherwise go without the treatment they need.”
