Assurance (FOQA) Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support and strengthen our safety management systems by conducting audits and assessments of the FOQA program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices. Reporting directly to the Director of Flight Operations and indirectly to the Accountable Executive and Safety Management System Manager, you will play a key role in enhancing flight safety through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
The control, completion, ongoing, and future development of the CMA flight operations quality audit program as detailed in the company ISMS Procedures Manual.
Audit activities include conducting inspections, collecting evidence in support of auditor's observations, completing audit reports, and recording audit findings and observations.
Ensure the Company Operations Manual and its extension manuals comply with company policies and procedures and that all regulations are complied with.
Review documentation: Evaluate the completeness and accuracy of documentation related to safety assessments, and corrective actions.
Identify areas for improvement: Identify areas where the FOQA program can be enhanced to improve flight safety, operational efficiency, and compliance.
Provide recommendations: Offer recommendations for process improvements, system enhancements, and training needs based on audit findings.
Monitor corrective actions: Track and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions resulting from audit findings or safety recommendations.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with flight operations, safety, maintenance, and other departments to ensure alignment and cooperation in implementing FOQA program improvements.
Stay updated with regulations and best practices: Keep abreast of the latest regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to safety management systems.
Support regulatory inspections: Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory inspections and audits related to the FOQA program.
Provide training and support: Conduct training sessions and provide support to employees involved in the FOQA program to ensure understanding and compliance with established procedures.
Liaise with the SMS manager with respect to audit findings, tracking, follow-up, and closures.
Liaise between the Chief Pilot, Flight Attendant Manager, Training and Standards, and Director of Flight Operations regarding areas of non-compliance, regulatory standards, and documents.
Actively promote safety and quality within the organization and department by encouraging employee participation in SMS and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes, and standards.
Mentoring and supervising FOQA coordinator.
Any additional responsibilities or duties assigned by the DFO.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Previous experience in aviation safety, quality assurance, or a related role is preferred.
University degree preferred.
Knowledge of content of Transport Canada's CARs, CASS, Advisory Circulars and Bulletins.
Familiarity with FOQA programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of Contrail Standards and BARS Standards; and all company manuals pertaining to flight operations and safety.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret complex documentation and data.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey audit findings and recommendations.
Motivated and enthusiastic team player who can work in an autonomous and/or team setting.
Flexible and willing to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, flight crews and Company management.
Self-starter with demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making.
Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, adaptable to change and possesses good time management.
Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable.
Ability to abide by the rules of confidentiality.
