PASSENGER INFORMATION

The following sections deal with common topics related to passenger travel on CMA in order that your flight is comfortable and issue free. If you do no get the answers you’re looking for from the following information please contact our Reservations Center at
(888)865-8585 or email us at reservations@flycma.com. These sections apply to travel on CMA only. Interline and Codeshare travel may dictate added limitations.

RESERVATIONS

Our reservations office is open 7 days per week excluding some holidays. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time daily. Reservations can be placed thru the CMA reservations office, this web site, or thru your travel agent. CMA’s airline code is 9M.

CMA utilizes an e-ticket (paperless) system. Reservations are stored in the Computer Reservations System (CRS) as a Virtual Coupon Record (VCR).

Travel itineraries and receipt will be emailed, faxed, or mailed to you at your request.

Flight schedules are subject to change without notice, therefore please reconfirm your flights prior to your departure date.

Unrestricted (Y) fares offer the greatest flexibility. These fares are offered with greater availability and no advance purchase is required.

Restricted (N/T/V/B/H/Q/L/M/W) fares offer greater value but there are some strings attached. Availability of lower fares is limited and seats may not be available on all flights. Advance purchase may be required and, usually the earlier you book, the lower the fare. While most fares are offered as one-way, some may apply to return travel only, with a minimum stay required.

TICKETING

Tickets (Y) are refundable and changes are permitted at no extra charge. Travel must be completed within 365 days from the initial ticketing date.

Tickets (N/T/V/B/H/Q/L/M/W) are non refundable and non-transferable. Travel must be completed within 365 days from the initial ticketing date. Changes and cancellations can be made up to 2 hours prior to departure. Change fee per direction is $40 CAD plus applicable taxes and any additional fare difference. Provided the original booking is cancelled prior to the original flight departure, the value of the unused ticket can be applied within 365 days from date of issue of the original ticket to the value of a new ticket subject to
a $40 CAD change fee per direction, plus taxes and any fare difference if applicable, subject to availability and advance purchase requirements. Travel must be completed within 365 days from the original date of ticket issuance.

Passengers MUST change or cancel the ticketed itinerary not less than 2 hours prior to the first ticketed departure time, otherwise the ticket has NO VALUE. Customers who no-show their flight will forfeit the fare paid.

CHECK-IN

For passengers who appear to be 18 years of age or older, 1 piece government issued picture ID is required OR 2 pieces government issued non-photo ID is required.

To assist with on-time departures for you and your fellow passengers on your flight, we recommend the following check-in and gate arrival times prior to scheduled departure time. It is the passenger’s responsibility to allow sufficient time for security processing at larger airports, where line-ups can be lengthy during busy times.

You must obtain your boarding pass and check-in any baggage by the check-in deadline, and be available at the boarding gate by the boarding gate deadline. Be familiar with the check-in and boarding gate deadlines below. Failure to meet these deadlines may
result in cancellation of your reservations and ineligibility for denied boarding compensation.

Recommended Check-in Time                   60 minutes
Check-in Deadline at Airport Counter       30 minutes
Boarding Gate Deadline                                20 minutes

BAGGAGE

CMA personnel will inspect baggage at Check-in. Only suitably packed pieces will be accepted for loading at the CMA agents
discretion. If necessary a signed release may be required.

Each fare paying passenger can check (2) pieces of baggage and carry-on (1) piece of baggage without excess baggage charges. The maximum combined weight of all checked baggage is 50 lbs. The overall measurement of each piece of checked baggage (L + W + H) must be less than 62” or 158 cm with a maximum weight up to 50 lbs. The carry-on piece must not exceed 9” x 16” x 22” or 22 lbs.

CMA’s route network covers a wide variety of communities, some with limited scheduled service. Some stage lengths are long and aircraft may have limited baggage/cargo capacity. While we try to accommodate both pieces of your free baggage allowance on the flight with you, you may be asked by the airport agent to prioritize one bag. We would request you prepack a priority piece with your most essential items.

Excess baggage will be assessed at an additional charge. Excess baggage will only travel subject to space availability.

Baggage may be tagged to CMA destinations only. For other destinations passengers may be required to collect their baggage and check it in for the connecting flight.

Passengers should inspect their baggage at pickup. Should a passenger discover damage to their baggage they should notify CMA personnel within (1) hour of its arrival. Despite care in the handling of your baggage, we trust you will understand that we are not responsible for the following: nicks, scratches, missing pullstraps, zipper damage, scuff marks, damage to wheels, soiling, manufacturing defects and damage resulting from over-packing or spillage of packed items.

INFANT BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

When an adult passenger is travelling with infant not occupying a seat, they are allowed to check a child restraint device (car seat) and stroller with no additional charges.  The adult passenger travelling with the infant is allowed 2 pieces at a combined weight of 50 lbs.
If a seat is purchased for the infant, the infant is allowed 2 pieces of baggage at a combined weight of 50lbs.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

Sports equipment is considered part of a passenger’s baggage allowance.

Bicycles: There is a fixed charge of $50 CAD for the carriage of bicycles on CMA. The bicycle must be prepared by fixing the handlebars sideways and removing the pedals. Bicycles will travel only subject to space availability and release of liability.

Hunting Equipment / Bounty / Antlers: CMA does not accept Bounty (hides, game meat, game birds) or Antlers as checked or carry-on baggage. Arrangements for the transportation of these items via ground transportation is the customer’s responsibility.

Rifles, shotguns, and handguns are accepted as checked baggage only and must be unloaded and in a specially designed case. A firearms declaration form must be completed and signed before CMA will accept firearms for carriage.

Ammunition must be packed separately (max 5 kg or 11 lbs) and securely in a strong container of wood or fibreboard, plainly marked “ammunition”, or in the original container.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS & DANGEROUS GOODS

CMA does not carry Dangerous Goods.

For a detailed list of Transport Canada prohibited items in carry-on luggage please refer to the CATSA website at

DASH 8 AND DORNIER 328

The Beechcraft 1900D can only carry kennels up to ‘Intermediate’ size, whereas the Dash 8 and
the Dornier 328 can carry all sizes from ‘Small’ to ‘Large’.

The kennel must be leak-proof, escape-proof and well ventilated.  It must be large enough to allow the pet to stand erect, turn around safely andlie comfortably in a natural manner. Kennels must be nose and paw-proof: ventilation openings must be of a size that makes it impossible for the pet to get its nose or paws outside the kennel, so that no part of the pet may extend outside of the kennel. It must be adequately ventilated, clean, devoid of offensive odors and must be equipped with absorbency pads. The kennel interior must be smooth with no edges at which the animal can gnaw or scratch. The door must close securely enough to prevent accidental opening. Strong zip ties for this are recommended.
For safety, the kennel must not have wheels. The pet must remain in the kennel at all times with the door closed. Maximum 3 pets (from the same litter and of equal size and strength) are allowed per kennel and there must be adequate room for all of them to rest and move around.

The number of kennels and the size of the kennel accepted per flight are at the discretion of Central Mountain Air and are determined by space availability.

Service Animals
Central Mountain Air allows service animals in the cabin of the aircraft, free of charge, when harnessed and while on duty.  Service animals will be required to travel at the customer’s feet.  Service animals are defined as animals required by a person with a disability for assistance.  This also includes working dogs used for search and detection. These animals must have a registered training certificate to qualify.
Due to the size of our aircraft, we may not be able to accommodate larger service animals.  Therefore,
we recommend you contact our Reservations a minimum of 48 hours prior to flight.

Care of live animals
While CMA will make every effort to protect live animals during transport, the carrier shall assume no liability for the animals due to adverse weather conditions, extremes in temperatures, delays, other operational difficulties and in the event of injury, sickness or death of any pet or animal accepted for transportation.
CMA assumes no responsibility for the care or feeding of pets while in transit and does not have animal care facilities; therefore, animals should not be brought in too early. It is important that either the passenger or the shipper prepares both the kennel and the animal in advance for transportation.

Animals CMA cannot accept for travel
CMA cannot accept animals that emit offensive odors, that are in heat, animals more than 6 weeks pregnant, puppies or kittens under 10 weeks old and ones that are not weaned, animals so heavily sedated that they cannot stand up and animals that appear hostile, aggressive or agitated. CMA reserves the right to refuse the transportation of any animal which appears to be unsuitable for transportation.

Live animal transportation – as checked luggage
Central Mountain Air will endeavor to accommodate you and your pet on our flights. However, the aircraft types that Central Mountain Air operates, the total kennel weight, weather, embargoes and regulatory constraints may restrict Central Mountain Air from transporting your live animal to the destination. This may require you to be flexible with your travel plans involving a pet.
Bring your pet in a comfortable kennel (large enough to allow the animal to fully stand and turn around), which is leak-proof. The maximum dimensions of a kennel that we will accept are 36” long x 26” wide and 28” high, with a maximum total weight of up to 100 lbs or 45 kg. Please see the applicable rates above.
Baggage limitations and rules apply and the pet must be accompanied by the owner on the same flight.
The baggage / cargo compartments on the CMA Beechcraft 1900D, Dash 8 (and Dornier 328 aircraft to           a lesser extent) are heated from the filtration of air from the passenger cabin. Therefore, it is possible   that temperatures can drop below zero degrees Celsius during winter operations for extended periods of time.

Live animal transportation – as carry-on luggage
When you fly on a Central Mountain Air flight, you may bring your cat or small dog in the cabin with you, provided the pet is small enough to fit and stay comfortably in its carrier under the seat in front of you. The pet carrier must be leak-proof and well ventilated. Hard-sided carriers are preferred, but soft-sided carriers will be accepted. The carrier limitations are: Height: 25cm (10 in), Width: 30cm (12 in), Length: 50cm (20 in) with a maximum weight of 22 lbs or 10 kg, including the carrier. The carrier must be large enough to allow the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down safely and comfortably.
The pet must remain in the carrier and the carrier must remain under the seat and closed at all times. Please register your pet by contacting Central Mountain Air Reservations.
As we are concerned about our passengers affected by allergies, we are limiting the number of pets in the passenger cabin to one. Furthermore, in case there is a passenger with severe allergies, the carry-on pet may have to travel at the very back of the aircraft or even in the cargo hold.

Live animal transportation – as cargo

A charge of $125.00 plus taxes per kennel is applicable. All shipments of live animals as cargo must be prepaid.

All cargo shipments, including kennels, are subject to space availability and are not guaranteed on board.

Reservation for the kennel transportation as cargo is required to be made by calling CMA Reservations at      1-888-865-8585. Arrangements must be made with CMA at least 24 hours in advance by the shipper.
The total weight and dimensions of the kennel must be provided by the shipper at the time of calling. Kennels, especially some larger ones, may not be accepted due to space availability, aircraft size or type and weight restrictions. The maximum size of a kennel for cargo transportation is Large ‘400’ with a total weight of 100 lbs or 45 kg, except the Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, which can carry a kennel up to Intermediate size ‘300’.

CMA is not able to transfer live animal kennels to another airline and any such arrangements must be made with the other carrier.

The kennels must be well constructed and be able to withstand damage that may be caused by other shifting cargo shipments in case they come into contact with the kennel. Kennels must be rigid enough to prevent animals from escaping through gaps at the seams or joints.
Animals may not be accepted more than 3 hours prior to the intended flight’s departure time.

NOTICE: THERE IS AN EMBARGO FROM DECEMBER 15th TO JANUARY 6th AGAINST CARRIAGE OF ANY ANIMAL KENNEL.

PASSENGER MEDICAL OXYGEN

Central Mountain Air will carry passenger supplied oxygen provided it is used for medical purposes. Due to the size of the restraint pouches onboard, we will only accept the following:

“D” size bottle – dimensions: 360-415 litres; 4.4” diameter and 16.5” tall.

The bottle must be full prior to boarding the aircraft on the first segment of the passenger’s outbound and return itinerary. It must also be placed in a cylinder pouch.

CUSTOMERS WITH DISABILITIES

CMA customer service personnel will do their best to assist special needs customers at each step of the journey. Including checking-in, proceeding to the boarding area, boarding and deplaning, proceeding to the public arrivals area and stowing and retrieving luggage and mobility aids. The identification of your special needs at the time of booking will enhance our ability to offer the services that best meet your requirements.

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

You may send your child as an Unaccompanied Minor if your child is between the ages of five (5) and eleven (11). Your child must travel on CMA from origin to destination without long connection times at connecting airports. CMA will not accept children that have to connect to another airline. There is a $60 CAD service charge each direction (plus tax), which is collected at the time of booking. Release forms must be completed prior to boarding the aircraft. CMA will require phone numbers and contact names in both the originating and destination cities. The person dropping the child off as well as the person picking the child up must have acceptable government issued photo ID. ID will be checked before the child is released. Persons dropping off the child must remain at the airport until 15 minutes after the flight has departed.

You must call CMA reservations for booking when making reservations for an Unaccompanied Minor. A maximum of two (2) Unaccompanied minors will be allowed per flight.

NOTICES
CMA offers scheduled services to a wide variety of communities utilizing commuter and regional aircraft. Some communities are remote, have long stage lengths, and receive limited service. Aircraft capacity can be limited on certain routings and further constraints can be assumed in adverse weather conditions. We appreciate your patience when irregular operations occur.

OVERBOOKING NOTICE
Some scheduled flights may become overbooked, and there is a slight chance that a seat may not be available on a flight for which a person has a confirmed reservation. If a flight is overbooked, no one will be denied a seat until airline personnel first ask for volunteers willing to give up their reservation in exchange for compensation of the airline’s choosing. If there are not enough volunteers, the airline will deny boarding to other persons in accordance with its particular boarding priority. With few exceptions, persons denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation.

NOTICE OF LIMITATION FOR CARRIAGE OF PETS
CMA will not be responsible in the event of loss, delay, injury, sickness or death of any pet animal accepted for transportation.

NOTICE OF BAGGAGE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS
CMA’s maximum liability for lost or damaged luggage is $250 CAD per fare-paying passenger unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges are paid. Additional protection can usually be obtained by purchasing insurance from a private Insurer. Please note that CMA assumes no responsibility for money, jewelry, silverware, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, samples, liquids, food and other perishables, computers, prescription drugs, photographic equipment, video equipment, cellular telephones, artistic items, chinaware/ceramics/pottery, electronic and mechanical items, glass, musical instruments and equipment, paper items, and sporting goods (skiis, tennis rackets, scuba gear, fishing rods, surfboards, sporting trophies such as animal antlers and horns).
